Position Overview:
The KCSCEP Program Support Assistant plays a crucial role in providing direct care and supervision for children within the program. This position involves collaborating with the Site Director to ensure a safe and engaging environment for all participants.
Immediate Supervisor: KCSCEP Site Director
Employment Term: Annually Contracted
Compensation: Hourly rate based on the current salary schedule for Site Assistants, commensurate with experience.
Performance Evaluation: Evaluation will be conducted in accordance with established requirements.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a minimum of 1 year of relevant supervised work experience.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (training available if necessary).
- Complete an ergonomic assessment at the designated training center.
- Undergo training on Child Abuse & Neglect.
- Finish the required training modules.
- Adhere to all hiring practices, including background checks and health assessments.
- Sign an Acceptable Use Policy.
- Ability to read, write, and execute assigned duties.
- Capable of understanding and following both written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Show enthusiasm for working with children.
- Participate in mandatory training and meetings.
- Recognize and respond to safety hazards proactively.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Willingness to perform any assigned duties by the site director.
- Meet the expectations set forth for employees.
- Supervise and implement program activities for children, with or without assistance.
- Take primary responsibility for the direct care of children.
- Assist the site director in addressing practical problems that arise.
- Effectively communicate with administrators, staff, and parents as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
- Foster positive working relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Assist in serving snacks and maintaining cleanliness in the area.
- Help set up activity stations and play areas.
- Engage actively with children in both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Support the director during group sessions and work with children in smaller groups.
- Address unforeseen challenges that may arise during activities.
- Ensure play areas are clean and safe.
- Contribute to end-of-day clean-up tasks.
- Provide additional support to children with special needs as required.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the site director or program coordinator.
- Be flexible to assist at different sites as needed.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting and moving children and materials.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, lift, and engage in repetitive motions.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision for reading materials.
- The work environment is characterized by moderate to loud noise levels.
