Avionics Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer III

As an Avionics Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing and analyzing avionics systems for our spacecraft. Your expertise will help ensure the reliability and performance of our systems, enabling us to achieve our mission of making humanity a multi-planetary species.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze avionics enclosures for electronic components on various spacecraft
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering teams to design rugged printed circuit board systems
  • Perform thermal and structural analyses of avionics designs
  • Develop engineering drawings and manage product configuration throughout the product lifecycle
  • Create test plans and manage testing and qualification of avionics products
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in design of electro-mechanical avionics assemblies, static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis
  • Experience with Steinberg or Engelmeier solder fatigue, FEA tools (ANSYS preferred), 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred), and GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team and dynamic design environment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with recent versions of Creo, Windchill, ANSYS, ICEPAK, and Sherlock
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standard structural analysis methods and environmental testing
  • Knowledge of avionics reliability mitigations and thermal and structural analysis of avionics enclosures and PCBA components
