The Housing Coordinator plays a vital role at Center Communities of Brookline, working within Hebrew SeniorLife's Property Management team under the guidance of the Director of Supportive Housing, Compliance & Occupancy. This position is essential for the smooth operation of Center Communities of Brookline.

The Housing Coordinator is tasked with supporting the implementation of CCB's Tenant Selection Plan, which includes managing the waiting list, addressing rental inquiries, leasing units, and conducting initial tenant certifications and annual recertifications in accordance with HUD and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including fair housing laws.

Additionally, the Housing Coordinator collaborates closely with the property management team, coordinating rental activities with the Facilities Department and engaging with staff across all departments to enhance the resident experience at CCB.


This role demands exceptional customer service skills to effectively address the needs of applicants, residents, family members, guests, and professional colleagues. The ideal candidate will be patient, kind, and understanding, capable of managing interruptions, stressful situations, and challenging customer interactions with skill and professionalism.

We seek an independent self-starter who can prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, anticipate needs, and demonstrate initiative while fostering community engagement. This position is integral to supporting the mission of Center Communities of Brookline, which is to empower elders to maintain their independence and active lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities:


Assist in leasing units at CCB and other Hebrew SeniorLife affordable housing locations, ensuring occupancy targets are met while adhering to the CCB Tenant Selection Plan and all HUD, MassHousing, and Spectrum requirements, including Fair Housing regulations.


Maintain the waiting list and ensure compliance with all HUD policies related to waitlist management and tenant selection.

Process eligible applicants from application to admission under the Section 8 Program and Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) by verifying income, assets, medical, and other expenses as required, and entering all data into the Yardi affordable housing software.


Assist in preparing annual resident income and expense recertifications and interim recertifications as necessary at CCB and other Hebrew SeniorLife affordable housing sites.


Stay informed about regulations related to the HUD Section 8 Rental Program & LIHTC through various resources, including LeadingAge, Federal Register, HUD Handbooks, notices, emails, and MassHousing publications. Attend housing meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:
A college degree and/or a minimum of three years of experience in property management.

Prior experience with the HUD Section 8 Affordable Housing Program and familiarity with HUD, MassHousing, and DHCD regulations and policies is preferred.

Experience with LIHTC and knowledge of Spectrum regulations and policies is also preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Professional of Occupancy or equivalent is preferred.

Experience with Yardi software or similar HUD Affordable Housing software is advantageous.

Exceptional organizational, customer service, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
