Job Description:

3M is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our team in Cordova, IL. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in industrial maintenance and equipment repair.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, repair, and install equipment and facilities, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to production specifications.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Pipefitting installation and repair of pipe systems through welding, threading, and proper hanging.
  • Complete overhauls of various types of equipment, including reactors, gearboxes, pumps, mechanical seals, forklifts, pallet trucks, conveyors, air and nitrogen compressors, refrigeration systems, and boilers.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Reassemble machines after completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Record and document repair and machine maintenance information.
  • Work with and comprehend equipment schematics, blueprints, and comprehensive diagrams related to new installations and existing systems.
  • Work with lathes and other shop equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance setting.
  • Completion of a Federally-Certified (8,000 hours) formal industrial manufacturing skilled craft training program or equivalent.
  • College degree from a technical school in the mechanical field.
  • Willingness to be on-call.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to make decisions based on site experience and good judgment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Literacy and mechanical aptitude.
