We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team in a detention setting.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide comprehensive and unique healthcare services to individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This role requires a broad clinical background and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide acute, emergent, and chronic healthcare services to patients in compliance with IHSC policy and guidance.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical evaluations, behavioral health care, and minor outpatient surgical procedures as required by the medical condition.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide treatment throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting.
- Participate in and comply with court-ordered treatment plans, including evaluation and treatment of patients with psychiatric illness or life-threatening conditions.
- Provide full-spectrum healthcare services, including treatment of gender dysphoria and pregnancy.
- Consult with staff physicians, clinical directors, and IHSC consultants as required by policy and for complex medical and/or psychiatric patients.
- Provide infirmary care, including admission, discharge, and daily rounds for patients requiring higher levels of care and monitoring.
- Interpret Tuberculin skin tests and diagnostic studies, manage Direct Observation Therapy for treatment of active or latent tuberculosis.
- Take appropriate infection control actions in accordance with IHSC policy and guidance.
- Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Family Nurse Practitioner program.
- One year of full-time equivalent experience in primary care as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
- Board certification by NCCPA, AANC, or AANP.
- Unrestricted license to prescribe controlled medications from the DEA and in the state where the duty station is located.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, CPR certification through the American Red Cross, or the American Safety and Health Institute.
This position requires rotational on-call duties for phone consultations and the ability to work an 8hr/10hr/12hr shift schedule.
