Position Overview:

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic. This role involves performing maintenance and repair tasks on various systems, including plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical equipment. The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for executing a wide range of mechanical and construction-related duties with minimal supervision, while also overseeing a small team of workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repairs and adjustments on plumbing and mechanical fixtures, including doors, windows, and locks.
  • Initiate repairs and installations for diverse plumbing systems, such as cast iron, PVC, CPVC, copper, and polyethylene piping.
  • Operate maintenance tools and equipment; perform minor repairs on building structures and furnishings.
  • Maintain and repair various office equipment and building components.
  • Execute skilled carpentry tasks using standard carpentry tools and power saws.
  • Be available for overtime or alternate hours as needed to ensure efficient departmental operations.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Plant Mechanic Helper, performing various mechanical and maintenance tasks.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of maintenance and construction practices, methods, and tools.
  • Understanding of safety precautions and hazards associated with mechanical trades.
  • Skilled in using a variety of building trade tools and shop equipment.
  • Able to work from ladders, scaffolds, and lift trucks.
  • Capable of interpreting sketches, layouts, and specifications.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships with supervisors and colleagues.

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess the strength and stamina necessary to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Capable of navigating confined spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Must have full range of motion appropriate for the role.
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Must be able to hear and respond to verbal commands and alarms.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception necessary for working at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Safety footwear is required.
