Job Summary

The Santa Barbara City College Basic Needs Center is seeking a Program Assistant to support the daily operations of the center and its programs. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and assisting students with various needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with students and guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Create a sense of belonging and community among students
  • Assist with the intake process, including Link2Feed and TBH
  • Collect and maintain accurate records
  • Unload and stock weekly shipments, ensuring a tidy and organized environment
  • Issue donation receipts and support the CalFresh program
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming checkout area
  • Provide leadership and guidance to student staff and volunteers

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Working Conditions

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm (occasional evenings)
  • Closed weekends
  • Hourly position, up to 19.5 hours per week and 175 days per fiscal year
