Job Overview

Manual Machinist Role:

As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for analyzing specifications and blueprints, setting up and operating machines, and assembling parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize the product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts
  • Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations
  • Measure, mark, and scribe tool steels for machining
  • Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, O.D grinders
  • Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications
  • Fitting and assembling parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms
  • Filling out daily operator maintenance checklists, inspection sheets, and all applicable paperwork

About the Role:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience with lathes, mills, grinders, blueprints
  • Journeyman's card is a plus
  • Tool making and die maker experience is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, G&M code, and procedure manuals
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and proficient in all shop math including geometry, algebra, and trigonometry

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
