About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician Senior to join our Housing and Community Development (HCD) division. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing affordable housing units, buildings, and facilities for the City of Boise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-level remodeling and maintenance work for the City's affordable housing program.
  • Repair and maintain affordable housing units, buildings, and facilities, ensuring they meet Housing and Urban Development Section 8 guidelines and the Fair Housing Act.
  • Operate a variety of maintenance and custodial equipment, including hand and power tools.
  • Work under general supervision, taking lead on department issues and problems, and responding to tenant requests and explaining policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate, track, schedule, and maintain equipment, tools, and vendors, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Maintain and clean exterior grounds and parking lots of buildings and facilities, performing snow removal, gutter cleaning, and sprinkler system maintenance.
  • Operate and repair or troubleshoot HVAC systems, water heaters, and other mechanical systems.
  • Clean apartments, empty trash receptacles, cut and issue keys, and repair or replace locks.
  • Perform fire safety activities, including testing and maintenance of fire extinguishers and emergency signage and lights.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience performing general building maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and minor electrical or plumbing work, and fire safety activities.
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures, hand and power tools, recordkeeping and filing practices, general office procedures and protocols, financial rules, regulations, laws, and procedures, asbestos abatement, computer usage, and general customer service techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, perform work independently, communicate effectively in the English language, and perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in building maintenance or commercial custodial.
  • Bilingual.
  • Experience as a Lead Abatement worker or Asbestos Abatement supervisor.
