Job Summary:

BKF Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Stormwater Engineer to join our Water Resources business sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing stormwater treatment, conveyance, and site civil projects. Your expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, as well as your ability to lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, will be essential in driving our growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage stormwater treatment, conveyance, and site civil projects from planning to completion.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs/SWPPPs).
  • Perform complex engineering tasks, including engineering designs, reports, and calculations for storm drainage systems.
  • Review product designs and drawings for compliance with engineering principles and agency standards.
  • Develop proposals, budgets, and schedules for selected engineering efforts.
  • Meet with clients to determine project scope, estimate staffing requirements, and fee for review and prepare for signature.
  • Develop and maintain client contact before, during, and after project completion.
  • Cultivate client relationships through industry groups and direct contract.
  • Maintain three-month workload projections for all projects under personal management.
  • Work closely with other engineers and managers to balance workload demands amongst current staff.
  • Provide mentoring and training to Design and Project Engineers.
  • Prepare and conduct technical review of staff, reports, correspondence, calculations, and prepare technical recommendations.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise work of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Prepare opinions of probable cost and construction schedules/sequencing on current and new designs.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience using XPSWMM, HEC HMS, HEC RAS, EPA SWMM, Mike Urban, InfoWorks, and/or other modeling programs.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary technical team.
  • Participation in marketing clients and preparing competitive and sole source proposals.
  • 2+ years of project/task and staff management.
  • Experience with CAD and GIS.
  • PE licensure in CA, or in another state with the ability to obtain in CA within 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • Presentations to industry groups and/or leadership in industry groups at the local/regional level.
  • Experience with nature-based or green infrastructure planning and design desired.
  • Capabilities and interest in non-urban flood management, municipal water/wastewater design, sewer master planning, and/or asset management also desired.
  • Participation with the California Stormwater Quality Association, Floodplain Managers Association, or similar industry organizations.

Pay:
  • The typical base salary range for this position is $129,000 - $156,000 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
