Job Summary

Temple University's Health Sciences Campus-Facilities Department is seeking a skilled Stationary Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various mechanical and building systems, ensuring occupant comfort and adequate services to our campus buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the operation of various mechanical equipment, including HVAC, compressed air systems, vacuum systems, fire alarm, and protection systems.
  • Start, stop, operate, and/or dispatch mechanical equipment as necessary to maintain occupant comfort and adequate building services.
  • Accurately record mechanical equipment operating parameters and meter readings on a regular basis for equipment performance monitoring and regulatory recordkeeping compliance.
  • Perform routine mechanical and electrical work to maintain mechanical equipment in working order.
  • Utilize the Building Automation System to operate and monitor various mechanical systems in our assigned buildings.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in operating and maintaining HVAC and other building services in an industrial or educational campus environment.
  • Experience performing maintenance and repair of various mechanical and electrical equipment types.
  • Experience utilizing a Building Automation System for the operation of various mechanical and building systems.
  • A valid City of Philadelphia Engineer Grade A License or eligibility to obtain within the first 120 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of a vocational/technical school (2-year program) specializing in HVAC or an accredited apprenticeship program in HVAC (4-5-year program).
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and psychometrics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the Temple community.
