Program Leadership Role at YWCA Hartford Region

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Site Supervisor to join our team at YWCA Hartford Region. As a Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing a supportive and respectful environment for children enrolled in our programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision to designated program staff, including scheduling, personnel actions, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date child and staff files.
  • Work with the supervisor to complete corrective actions related to OEC inspections.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, healthy, warm, and inviting environment in accordance with licensing regulations and YWCA health and safety standards.
  • Follow defined state and YWCA protocols for reporting suspect child abuse or neglect.
  • Establish staff schedules and contingency staffing plans to ensure adherence to state-mandated staff-to-child ratios.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, families, peers, and associates.
  • Establish a culture where children and staff show respect and feel respected.
  • Provide constant supervision and oversight of children while they are engaged in activities.
  • Ensure the implementation of appropriate behavior and discipline as defined by the YWCA and/or school rules.
  • Lead the site staff in developing and implementing curriculum to meet the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child.
  • Ensure appropriate classroom behavior management and support children by providing positive guidance and redirection.
  • Order equipment and supplies in accordance with YWCA financial guidelines.
  • Work with site staff to establish a predictable daily schedule, including times for adequate transitions.
  • Ensure the delivery of snacks and the health and sanitation of snack time.
  • Maintain student and family information in a confidential manner.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly program space.
  • Monitor outside play space to ensure it is safe, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Administer First Aid/CPR and medication in accordance with the Office of Early Childhood and YWCA policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to staff in the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
  • Facilitate effective communication between staff and families in the resolution of issues or concerns.
  • Implement and monitor the consistent application of defined YWCA statements, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend monthly Site Supervisor meetings.
  • Hold documented regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Model a degree of professional decorum and dress appropriate to the program's mission and values.
  • Remain current with trends, development, and best practices in the field of child care and early childhood education.

Education and Experience:

  • Option 1: At least three (3) credits in school-age or elementary education from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
  • Option 2: A degree in any field from a regionally accredited higher education institution plus current (not expired) Connecticut State Department of Education elementary education teacher certification.
  • Option 3: A high school diploma plus completion of the 45 hours of school-age/elementary education online training via OEC Registry account as designated by the OEC.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must be able to successfully pass both OEC and criminal background checks.
  • Physical requirements upon hire.
