Nordic Groomer Job Description

The Nordic Groomer plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of Bogus Basin's Nordic Trails. This position requires a passion for winter trail maintenance and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Groom Nordic Trails with precision and attention to detail, prioritizing quality and safety above all else.
  • Maintain and repair equipment, communicating any issues to the relevant staff members.
  • Provide daily trail condition reports to the Nordic Center staff, updating the conditions board and sharing trail information with colleagues.
  • Collaborate with mechanics to address maintenance and repair needs.
  • Adhere to established procedures for operating equipment and maintaining service schedules.
  • Emphasize safety by following best practices and reporting any hazardous conditions.
Requirements:
  • Passion for Bogus Basin's mission and values.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, with a preference for snowcat and snowmobile grooming.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, adapting to changing weather conditions and trail needs.
  • Physical stamina to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds above shoulder level.
  • Regularly required to stand, balance, walk, climb, and reach with hands and arms, with occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and hear clearly.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to provide sufficient clothing for warmth in winter conditions, gloves in good repair, and pac boots in good repair.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
Working Conditions:
  • Indoor and outdoor environment, with the majority of time spent outdoors.
  • Exposure to inclement weather and adverse conditions.
  • Possible exposure to smoke, dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Vibration and noise present in the work environment.
