Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Research Specialist II to support the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences. In this role, you will be integral to the Plant Disease Clinic, providing essential diagnostic services and educational support to a variety of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze samples and perform diagnostic evaluations
  • Introduce and apply innovative diagnostic methodologies
  • Deliver prompt and informed recommendations to clients
  • Create educational materials tailored for diverse audiences
  • Foster collaborative relationships with specialists across departments

Essential Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in plant pathology, plant science, microbiology, or a related discipline is required.

Desirable Qualifications

A Master's degree in plant pathology, along with experience in plant diagnostics, microbiological techniques, and molecular biology practices, as well as strong public speaking and written communication abilities.

Compensation Details

Pay Band: 4

Salary: $45,000
