The Group Fitness Instructor plays a vital role in delivering engaging group exercise sessions in a safe and professional environment for all members and guests.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct Group Exercise classes as scheduled, ensuring modifications are available for diverse fitness levels.
2. Recognize contraindicated exercises to promote a safe and effective workout experience.
3. Maintain current industry certifications and fulfill continuing education obligations.
4.
Arrive in advance to prepare the space, ensuring classes start and finish on time while maintaining cleanliness.
5. Communicate any equipment needs or repair issues to the supervisor promptly after class.6. Track attendance numbers following each Group Exercise session.
7. Demonstrate reliability by adhering to the schedule and arranging substitutes when necessary.
8. Create a fun and motivating atmosphere for participants.
9. Strive to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
10. Exhibit flexibility regarding center hours and work schedules.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED is preferred.
- A valid group exercise instructor certification is required, ideally from an NCCA accredited organization.
- Certification in specific group exercise class instruction is necessary.
- At least 2 years of experience in group class instruction, covering various styles, levels, and populations is preferred.
- CPR/AED certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire (training provided).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a positive, service-oriented approach to member interactions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a professional and composed demeanor.
