Position Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for executing reprocessing activities, which encompass decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies, as well as mobile equipment utilized in patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and transportation of medical instruments and supplies.
  • Utilizes detergents and disinfectants to decontaminate a wide range of reusable patient care equipment.
  • Performs high-standard disinfection and assembly of flexible fiberscopes and other specialized medical instruments.
  • Operates sterilization equipment, including steam and gas sterilizers, ensuring all items are properly sterilized.
  • Prepares and packages supplies and instrument trays according to established protocols.
  • Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment usage through tracking software.
  • Conducts quality assurance testing on sterilizers and washers to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Reports any defective or damaged materials to the supervisor for immediate action.
Qualifications
  • Must possess Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Certification.
  • Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) Certification is required.
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree in a related healthcare field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
