Job Summary
The Housekeeper is a vital member of our housekeeping team, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment in all areas of our community, including resident rooms, public restrooms, offices, common areas, and exterior spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily housekeeping tasks in accordance with established procedures and as assigned by supervision.
- Follow established safety protocols when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies, reporting any hazardous conditions or accidents to the supervisor.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with residents and resident representatives, observing for significant changes or adverse reactions and submitting information for resident records.
- Keep the Maintenance Director informed of any unusual incidents or issues regarding residents, team members, or the community.
- Prepare for shifts by reviewing information and reports.
- Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
- Clean carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
- Clean and polish furnishings in hallways, stairways, and elevators.
- Clean resident rooms, including stripping and remaking beds, vacuuming carpets, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchenettes.
- Collect trash from resident rooms, offices, lounges, and bathrooms daily.
- Clean common area restrooms and replenish supplies.
- Clean walls, windows, handrails, ceiling fans, and overhead lights, air vents, and baseboards.
- Water and maintain indoor and outdoor plants.
- Assist in setting up dining rooms, activity areas, and living rooms as needed.
- Report needed repairs to the Maintenance Director and fill out work order forms.
- Keep housekeeping equipment, storage areas, closets, and carts clean and uncluttered.
- Respond to resident needs when noticed or requested.
- Laundry community and resident linens as needed.
- Keep the supervisor informed of supply needs and issues of concern.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
- Turn in found articles to the supervisor.
- Assist the Maintenance Director in controlling waste and staying within budget.
- Assist other departments with programming and activities as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior similar housekeeping experience required.
- Experience with seniors and cognitively impaired seniors preferred.
- Approved criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and TB skin test required.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
