Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Prescott House Inc. The successful candidate will work closely with our Physical Therapist to provide high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatment to patients with injuries or chronic health conditions to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
  • Review physician referrals and patient medical records to determine the required physical therapy treatment.
  • Communicate effectively with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
  • Test and measure patients' strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
  • Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on patient data.
  • Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
  • Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist pack, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.
  • Evaluate the effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Administer massage and traction to relieve pain.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in patients' charts.
  • Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Orient, instruct, and direct work activities of assistants and aides.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
  • Current PTA license in good standing.
  • One year of experience as a PTA in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
