Key ResponsibilitiesThe Facilities Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and cleanliness of bus shelters. Responsibilities include:
- Bus Shelter Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and perform repairs on all Metro Bus shelters.
- Conduct thorough cleaning of shelter interiors and exteriors, including walls, floors, windows, and removal of graffiti.
- Manage the exterior maintenance, including weed control and removal.
- Update communication materials displayed at shelter locations.
- Install and remove temporary bus stop signage as needed.
- Perform snow removal duties within shelters and surrounding walkways.
- Facility Maintenance Support:
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as steam cleaners and pressure washers.
- Assist in routine maintenance checks and procedures for facility systems.
- Support renovation tasks, including welding, wall construction, and painting.
- Mechanical Assistance: Provide light troubleshooting and repair services as necessary.
- Professional Communication: Maintain courteous and professional interactions with colleagues and the public.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and practices, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least one year of experience in janitorial or industrial cleaning roles, or a combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities- Understanding of commercial cleaning principles.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships.
- Skill in interacting tactfully with the public and coworkers.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Ability to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Moderate exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Occasional travel may be required, primarily using Metro Bus vehicles.
