Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Underwriting Leader to join our team as an Assistant Regional Underwriting Manager in our Corporate Solutions division. About the Role:
- This is a key leadership role in our Financial Services team where you will manage colleagues and oversee a range of programs and processes, in addition to handling complex underwriting.
- You will thrive by successfully balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, judgment, and a risk mindset.
- You will be responsible for building effective relationships with brokers and delivering a high standard of customer service as an example for the team to follow.
- You will also play a key role in new business development, including attending industry events and building new relationships across the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of underwriters and oversee the underwriting process for complex corporate risk accounts.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies to drive business growth and improve profitability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other stakeholders to deliver excellent customer service.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to ensure that our underwriting practices are aligned with best practices.
Requirements:
- Proven underwriting experience in Financial Services, with a successful record of selling products to clients.
- Deep technical expertise in order to provide technical direction to management, less senior underwriting staff, producers, and claims adjusting personnel.
- Proven people management skills and a record of developing more junior colleagues.
- The ability to analyze financial statements.
- Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Customer and sales-orientated behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.
