Position Overview

Overview: Dwight-Englewood School, a prominent independent educational institution in Bergen County, NJ, is on the lookout for a dedicated Middle School Music Educator. We are in search of a passionate and innovative teacher who aims to motivate students to explore their identities and the broader world through music.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embrace and actively promote the Mission of the School in daily activities.
  • Instruct two sections of 6th grade Music classes, meeting three times weekly.
  • Lead one section of 7th & 8th grade Show Choir, scheduled for two to three periods each week.
  • Conduct one section of Middle School Chorus, which convenes twice a week.
  • Oversee extracurricular music lessons in collaboration with adjunct faculty.
  • Provide keyboard accompaniment as necessary.
  • Participate in departmental and divisional meetings as required.
  • Work closely with Upper and Lower School Music faculty to develop a cohesive curriculum.
  • Organize and prepare for multiple performances throughout the academic year to highlight student achievements and talents.

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in music or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of experience in middle or upper school education.
  • Alignment with the school's mission, vision, and values.
  • A commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all interactions with Middle School students, families, and colleagues.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and digital communication skills.

Employment Terms:

  • This is a 10-month teaching role.
  • Teachers are expected to attend faculty meetings and other school-wide events.
