Job Title: Chemical Support Specialist
Job Summary:
Mentor Technical Group is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our laboratory facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage laboratory waste generated from R&D activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Provide technical support to our R&D team, assisting with chemical inventory management and implementing best practices for chemical safety and handling.
- Manage R&D laboratory waste, including scheduling pickups, tracking waste disposal, and maintaining records in accordance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Implement and maintain best practices for chemical safety and handling, including the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training programs.
- Conduct regular inspections of laboratory facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, industry trends, and best practices in chemical safety and waste management.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support the development of new products and processes, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Respond to chemical-related incidents, including spills, accidents, and emergencies, and lead investigations to identify root causes and prevent future incidents.
- Collaborate with external partners, including waste disposal vendors, regulatory agencies, and emergency responders, to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all laboratory waste, chemical inventory, and safety-related activities, and generate reports as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in laboratory waste management, chemical safety, and handling.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Experience with chemical inventory management software and databases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
- Certification in hazardous materials management, chemical hygiene, or a related field is a plus.
