About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer – Modeling and Simulation to join our Combination Product Operations Digital and Data Strategies group. As a key member of our team, you will develop and deploy state-of-the-art advanced computational technologies and empirical and first principles models to improve process understanding, robustness, and monitoring, and prediction and optimization of the manufacturing of combination products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deploy rigorous computational models (in-silico modeling assets) of drug delivery device technologies.
  • Improve the way Amgen manages and utilizes in-silico models to enhance decision making within the organization.
  • Apply in-silico modeling theory to develop novel mechanistic computational models (virtual combination products) addressing a wide variety of challenging problems associated with combination product design control, characterization, verification, and validation.
  • Identify requirements and specifications suitable for in-silico evaluation of combination products.
  • Apply finite element analysis (FEA) and engineering simulation principles to develop, deploy, enhance, automate, and manage in-silico models for combination products.
  • Implement in-silico models in commercial and proprietary software and deploy these models to internal users via enterprise modeling infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills to explore new opportunities in in-silico and data-driven computational models and simulate complaints and real-world issues within lifecycle of combination products.
  • Provide positive leadership and deliver work in a fast-paced, multi-project, cross-functional environment.
  • Product ownership, responsible for developing and managing backlog of in-silico product content in Scrum and SAFe (Scale Agile Framework).

Requirements
  • Doctorate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in mathematical and computational (in-silico) modeling, FEA for structural mechanics, and multi-physics problems using commercial software such as 3DEXPERIENCE platform SIMULIA, ANSYS, LS-Dyna, COMSOL.
  • Skilled in programming in Python, and/or MATLAB for engineering purposes.
  • Experience with GitLab and/or other code/model repositories available for version control, code collaboration, and project management.
  • Knowledge of Scrum and SAFe methodologies, with a proven track record as a scrum master or product owner.
  • Experience with combination products and device regulatory requirements, medical device development and design controls, and knowledge of process controls.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity with ability to learn new concepts/frameworks, algorithms, and technology rapidly as needs arise.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and work in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.
