Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Monitor II to join our team at Wisconsin Community Services. As a key member of our Residential Reentry Center, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise adult male and female offenders within a correctional residential setting and in the community.
  • Maintain accountability of offenders at all times and ensure adherence to all life safety, security, and sanitation requirements.
  • Perform general office duties, including greeting and signing in/out visitors, watching over inventory, and ordering program supplies.
  • Supervise and inspect residents assigned house chores, check locking devices, alarms, and security equipment, and conduct urine surveillance and administer breathalyzer tests as required.
  • Prepare and document reports, including disciplinary and accidents, incidents reports, medical reports, escapes, and residents sign in/out sheet.
  • Monitor and document medication usage, give receipts to residents who turn money over to the program, and follow procedures for handling money.
  • Motivate residents to follow program expectations by using motivational incentives to reinforce positive behaviors and impose appropriate sanctions when needed for non-compliance.
  • Maintain accountability of residents, facility control, life safety, environmental safety, and sanitation to adequately protect residents, staff, and the community.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as directed.
  • Monitor residents' activities while in the community and enforce all rules of offender supervision.
  • Assist with new resident intake and orientation, and perform other duties as directed to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year prior work experience in corrections or related security or other social service is preferred.
  • Must clear Caregiver, STATE, and FEDERAL Background checks, physical exam, and drug screen prior to hire.
  • Must have valid drivers license, automobile, and insurance sufficient to meet agency requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with staff and residents, and to de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Must be able to multi-task, use security equipment, and perform pat searches for clearance of metal detector.
  • Detail orientation and a strong mindset to deter/resist manipulative people are essential.
  • Sensitivity toward cultural, ethnic, and disability issues is required.
Working Conditions

The Security Monitor II will be required to climb two to three flights of stairs and be mobile throughout the facility. The ability to sit for extended periods of time, walk, and stay awake while on shift is also required. The position requires the ability to provide First Aid and CPR, and some lifting (50lbs) may be required with inventory packing.
