Job Summary
The Placement Specialist will work closely with consumers to instruct and guide them in all areas of job exploration and development, promoting independence at a level relative to each consumer's ability. The successful candidate will assist consumers in obtaining competitive jobs within the community, consistent with documented abilities and goals noted in their vocational assessment. Additionally, the Placement Specialist will work with employers to provide ongoing support services, promoting job retention and advancement consistent with the consumer's abilities and vocational aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
• Instruct and guide consumers in job exploration and development, promoting independence and self-advocacy
• Assist consumers in obtaining competitive jobs within the community, consistent with their abilities and goals
• Work with employers to provide ongoing support services, promoting job retention and advancement
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans for consumers
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of consumer progress and job placement outcomes

Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a social services field preferred
• Valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle and proof of up-to-date auto insurance required
• Ability to work in environments where you may be exposed to pets and second-hand smoke
• Willingness to take and pass the DHS Background check
• Ability to drive your personal vehicle for work and transport clients, if necessary
