Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Administrative Support Assistant to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. As an Administrative Support Assistant, you will provide administrative support to our organization, serving as a principle point of contact on specific technical aspects or programs related to office administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to our organization, including serving as a principle point of contact on specific technical aspects or programs related to office administration.
  • Perform a wide variety of administrative support functions and specialized duties, each requiring a comprehensive working knowledge of special and/or complex subject matter, procedures, or practices.
  • Serve as a point of contact for human resource matters, purchasing supplies/equipment, preparing travel documents, and entering/validating time and attendance records.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to management on improving administrative operations.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • May be required to complete a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Must provide resume and supporting documents.
  • You cannot hold an active real estate license, nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Lands.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • May be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Qualifications

To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying.

  • Specialized Experience GS-07: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, performing at the following:
    • Serving as a clerical point of contact on human resource matters.
    • Purchasing supplies/equipment using simplified acquisition procedures.
    • Preparing travel documents (authorizations and vouchers) in an automated travel system.
    • Entering and/or validating time and attendance records in an automated payroll system.
