Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Director of Student Financial Services, the Student Financial Services Advisor is responsible for delivering financial aid guidance and support to students and their families, alongside performing administrative tasks to enhance the efficiency of the Office of Student Financial Services. This role also involves collaboration with various departments, external organizations, and the campus community.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service in all interactions.
  • Advise students and families on Title IV and institutional financial aid options.
  • Manage the process of returning Title IV funds as necessary.
  • Conduct FAFSA verification for incoming and corrected ISIRs in compliance with ED regulations.
  • Evaluate Professional Judgment requests and execute ISIR adjustments.
  • Oversee the PLUS loan application process, assisting families and graduate students with applications, awards, and reconciliations.
  • Administer and process alternative loan applications.
  • Coordinate the Federal Direct Loan process, including awarding, tracking entrance counseling, and managing MPN receipts and reconciliations.
  • Stay informed on changes in financial aid policies and conduct audits of student files for compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to FERPA regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, complemented by relevant specialized training.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in financial aid, higher education, or related fields is preferred.
  • On-the-job training will be provided for specific skills.
