Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Construction Technician plays a crucial role in executing a diverse range of tasks related to building maintenance and repair. Responsibilities encompass various levels of work, from basic to advanced, including but not limited to: painting, drywall restoration, renovations, minor plumbing and electrical tasks, as well as general and trim carpentry.


Key Responsibilities:
Perform construction duties that include:

  1. Basic installation and repair of various flooring types, such as carpeting, vinyl, hardwood, and laminate.
  2. Drywall repairs, including hanging, taping, and finishing.
  3. Installation of trim, baseboards, and other molding elements.
  4. Installation of doors and associated hardware.
  5. Cabinet and countertop installation.
  6. Basic painting tasks, including caulking and filling gaps.
  7. Minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC system installations and repairs.
  8. Installation of lighting fixtures.
  9. Basic appliance installations, including refrigerators, microwaves, and ovens.
  10. Installation of residential windows and related components.
  11. Perform board-ups as necessary.
  12. Address punch list items as required.
  13. Maintain cleanliness upon completion of tasks.

Customer Support:
Provide assistance and guidance to customers regarding the use of installed appliances and systems.


Additional Duties:
Ensure compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and project specifications. Identify and recommend additional repairs as necessary. Document all completed work as instructed. Execute work orders promptly.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in construction or related field.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Familiarity with construction tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong carpentry skills, including trim work and framing.

Education:
High school diploma or GED is required.


Physical Requirements:
This role involves walking and standing for extended periods, frequent ladder climbing, and the ability to operate power tools and equipment. Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and may encounter extreme temperatures and high noise levels.


Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, totaling 45 hours per week. Flexibility for overtime, on-call duties, and weekend work may be necessary. Local travel is required, with potential for occasional out-of-area assignments.
