Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the standardization of multi-disciplinary storage management policies across public/private cloud and on-premises environments.
- Collect and analyze requirements from business stakeholders and senior leadership for effective data lifecycle management.
- Engage in strategic long-term planning to align storage solutions with business goals.
- Conduct regular stakeholder reviews to assess storage capacity, forecast future requirements, and promote optimized technology usage.
- Provide timely storage utilization reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage budgetary considerations, including Total Cost of Ownership and maintenance contracts.
- Deliver technical leadership and create comprehensive documentation for both executives and engineering teams.
- Identify and advocate for innovative technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with vendors to align product roadmaps with customer objectives and resolve engineering and support challenges.
- Work alongside internal and peer engineers to ensure solutions are designed for cloud-native scalability and operational efficiency.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in operating systems and systems management (Linux, OSX, Windows).
- Expertise in storage lifecycle management and high-speed transport technologies.
- Experience with unstructured storage analytics platforms and high-performance storage solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud storage vendors and technologies.
- Knowledge of file system authorization schemes and file sharing protocols.
- Understanding of media file transport solutions and virtualization technologies.
- Competence in file/storage security measures and scripting languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in automating tasks using open-source tools.
- Background in managing high-performance media environments.
- Familiarity with film or TV production settings.
- Strong project management and resource planning skills.
- Knowledge of IP networking and media asset management systems.
- Experience in cloud/IaaS environments and data migration at scale.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
Additional Information:
- 12+ years of experience in engineering or storage systems related to production.
- Expertise in storage management across multiple tiers.
- Experience in the media entertainment sector is highly valued.
- Proficiency in scripting languages is essential.
