Position Overview

In the role of Senior Robotics Engineer within the Maximo team, you will spearhead the creation of sophisticated robotics software and functionalities. You will play a crucial role in developing the entire robotics software stack that powers Maximo, our solar module installation robotic system. Responsibilities will encompass crafting advanced software across various programming languages, optimizing complex algorithms, and guiding the technical strategy for the robotics segment in alignment with our vision and product roadmap.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation in robotics system architecture, control mechanisms, and design, complemented by programming expertise. You will be an entrepreneurial, mission-oriented individual tasked with actively advancing, developing, and executing the technical vision for our solar module installation robotic system. This role involves defining, designing, developing, and programming robotics applications for outdoor environments in close collaboration with mechanical, control, and vision/AI engineers.

As a key engineering leader at Maximo, this position will engage collaboratively with the Maximo team, external industry partners throughout the value chain, and various AES teams, including engineering, business development, construction, finance, supply chain, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms for robotic systems, focusing on motion planning, trajectory generation, and sensor integration.
  • Translate product-level requirements into detailed technical design specifications.
  • Lead the development and integration of robotic hardware and software components.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of robotics systems to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards.
  • Research, develop, implement, and evaluate new capabilities for industrial robotics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of robotics solutions into complex systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in robotics and control technologies to foster innovation and enhance product performance.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong programming proficiency in languages such as C++ and Python.
  • Expertise in ROS2 and experience with ROS hardware integration.
  • Experience with programming PLC/HMI and robotics systems (preferably KUKA).
  • Proven history of successfully delivering complex robotics systems to market.
  • Understanding of motion planning, control, perception, and simulation.
  • Demonstrated ability through previous projects, advanced education/research, or knowledge in the robotics domain.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., CE, FCC, UL), safety standards, risk assessment, and product definition (sensors, power, and electronic components).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for execution and a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities.
  • Skills and Attributes: Ability to work dynamically and collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced, technical environment with minimal supervision. Exceptional communication skills. Results-oriented with a proactive attitude and a commitment to quality and detail.
  • Technical Acumen: Proven ability to grasp solar engineering and technology concepts, challenge assumptions, and make informed product and technology decisions. A technical understanding of automation, robotics, computer vision, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence is advantageous.
