High Precision Manufacturing Specialist

Job Summary:
This is a high-precision manufacturing role at Granite State Manufacturing, requiring expertise in CNC machining and setup of machines. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating complex parts, training colleagues, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, manual machines, and machining centers to produce metallic and nonmetallic parts
- Train other employees on machine operation as needed
- Actively seek out skilled CNC Machinists with specialization in vertical milling, horizontal boring mill, horizontal milling, vertical turning lathe, or all-around machining
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces from blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts
- Measure, mark, and scribe reference points on material or workpiece guides for subsequent machining
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for machining operations
- Calculate and set control to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls or control media as required
- Analyze problems with engineering to determine best solutions
- Mentor and teach employees with lesser capabilities in production
- Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in maintaining a professional, safe, and clean environment
- Collaborate with managers, directors, and workers to accomplish shared purposes and goals
- Avoid violations of GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and adhere to all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations
Requirements:
- Be capable of setting up and running CNC or manual machines, both horizontal and vertical
- Show self-sufficiency in all areas of machining and production
- Able to machine complex parts efficiently
- Able to use precision measuring tools like height gages, calipers, micrometers, gage pins, thread gages, and optical comparators
- Have strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues
- Show expertise in interpreting blueprints and specifications
- Oriented to listen to operating equipment to diagnose cutting efficiency or malfunctions
- Possess knowledge of basic mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- Show expertise in designing and building workholding devices, including cause and effect analysis
- Able to apply deburring and finishing techniques
- Hold advanced knowledge of tapping, threading, and thread forms
- Aware of various materials and their cutting speeds and feeds
- Able to plan and execute the sequence of events from start to finish to produce a part
Estimated Salary:
The estimated annual salary for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 based on experience and qualifications.
