JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is seeking a dedicated Civil Apprentice with a background in the oil and gas construction sector. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship from Wood.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in various finish carpentry tasks, including framing metal stud walls, hanging drywall, and installing doors, hardware, and office furnishings under supervision.
  • Support the smoothing and finishing of concrete surfaces such as floors and sidewalks using a range of hand and power tools.
  • Recognize and demonstrate safe practices in the use of power and hand tools relevant to carpentry.
  • Select and operate necessary equipment, which may include manlifts, forklifts, and company vehicles.
  • Willingness to learn about the application of different coatings, including paints and varnishes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in installing:
    • Doors
    • Door Frames
    • Windows
    • Trim Work
    • Suspended Ceilings
    • Paneling
    • Drywall
    • Staircases
  • Participate actively in safety meetings and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area at the end of each day or upon job completion.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Some prior experience as a helper in carpentry is preferred.
  • Experience in industrial settings is advantageous.
  • Ability to measure using standard and/or metric systems.
  • Competence in basic arithmetic operations and following detailed instructions accurately.
  • Exhibit active listening skills, ensuring full attention to others and understanding their points.
  • Utilize mathematical skills to address challenges effectively.
  • Determine the appropriate tools and equipment necessary for tasks.
  • Comprehend written materials related to work duties.
  • Exhibit coordination by adjusting actions based on others' movements.
  • Install equipment and systems according to specifications.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, background investigation, and fit test.
