Instrumentation and Controls System Director

This role oversees the planning and direction of instrumentation and control systems repair for assigned equipment, ensuring maximum availability and efficiency within budget constraints.

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and support to Plant Operational and Maintenance staff in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution. They must maintain assigned equipment systems to ensure reliability and availability of the plant.

Key responsibilities include analyzing operating problems, establishing emergency operating procedures, and planning and directing repairs to ensure timely repair of equipment. The incumbent must also enforce safety rules, train personnel to develop safe work practices, and maintain equipment service records for preventive maintenance.

This is a mixed work environment that combines both office and plant working conditions with moderate to medium noise levels. The incumbent must be able to wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) and oversee the work of outside contractors if needed. They will operate within assigned budget for their plant subsystems and achieve performance targets in the business plan.

The role requires a strong understanding of power plant instrumentation and control technical skills, as well as overall knowledge of power plant operations. The incumbent must have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and a strategic business sense. Experience with gas turbine instrumentation and controls equipment is preferred, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and CEMS equipment.
