Position Overview
CHA delivers round-the-clock emergency services at our Cambridge and Everett facilities. We are recognized as one of the busiest emergency care providers in Massachusetts, with approximately 100,000 combined annual visits, and have received national accolades for our efficiency in emergency services. Key features include a cutting-edge patient triage and tracking system, an expedited admission process that prioritizes critical patients, rapid assessment protocols, a BIDMC tele-stroke initiative, and integrated Psychiatric Emergency Services at Cambridge Hospital.
The responsibilities of the Emergency Services Technician encompass, but are not limited to, functioning effectively in a high-pressure Emergency Department, managing phone communications, executing order entries, performing phlebotomy (mandatory), conducting point of care testing, and collaborating under the supervision of a registered Nurse. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, medical staff, and colleagues. It is essential to understand and incorporate the specific needs of various age groups in relation to their growth and development into patient care delivery. Candidates must efficiently organize daily tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and make informed decisions to cater to the needs of individual patients and groups. Additionally, assist in ensuring the safety and care of all patients, including those with behavioral health needs. Compliance with and administration of treatment in accordance with Cambridge Health Alliance's policies and procedures is mandatory.
Qualifications/Experience:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of a certified nursing assistant program in Massachusetts or a medical assistant diploma is necessary. Nursing students who have completed a clinical rotation or hold EMT certification will also be considered. Experience in an Emergency Room setting is required.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association/American Red Cross is required.
One year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.
All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job-specific physical agility assessment.
