Quality Assurance Inspector

An Inspector will prepare, perform, and record results of inspections and tests to determine if the characteristics of parts meet documented requirements. Accepts or rejects parts and prepares related records as permanent records for traceability.
Key Responsibilities
Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies, or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical, and/or electrical measurements.
Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required. Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
Accurately documents the results of the inspections and testing.
Assists in the writing and updating of inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.
Requires ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
Work Environment
Work is in a machine shop laboratory environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, the repetitive nature of the job, etc. are less desirable than in a typical office environment.
Physical and Mental Demands
Able to lift up to 25 pounds. Required to adjust requisite equipment to set-up specifications. Hand and finger manipulation in turning tools/valves/handles or operating knobs/cranks/buttons, etc. as well as using precision measuring instruments. Able to reach, bend, and stretch. Most job assignments require continuous standing and/or sitting for periods exceeding 15 minutes at a time.
Work at times is highly repetitive and monotonous. However, set-ups may require basic knowledge of machine shop theory and familiarity with laboratory test procedures. Set-ups or test parameters may require some improvisation and ingenuity. Reasoning ability required to interpret blueprints and documentation of a technical nature. Must be able to draw valid conclusions from a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Required to organize workflow to best efficiency under periodic supervision or review.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to read and write English of a level required in Company shop documents and computer software entry and processing requirements as well as technical manuals and specification requirements.
Must be capable of applying mathematical operations using fractions, decimals, algebra, and geometry as required by essential job duties. Must be able to operate all laboratory equipment, related tools, and instruments at a complex level as required by essential job duties. Generally equivalent to 12th grade level.
Requires 2 years training or equivalent skills and knowledge expertise in the complex set-up and operation of laboratory equipment, tools, and instruments which are similar or comparable to those used by the Company and which are necessary to fulfill job requirements. Must have demonstrated the capability to set-up and conduct laboratory tests required in the cell. Must read precision measuring instruments and gauges, as well as engineering diagrams and test requirements specifications similar or comparable to those used in laboratory testing operations by the Company.
