Phlebotomy Specialist

The Phlebotomist II role at ICONMA involves assisting in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination, as well as updating patient information.
Key Responsibilities- Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection to patients.
- Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.
- Packages specimens for transport.
- Stores specimen samples according to required temperature.
- Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attends annual department trainings.
- Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
