Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic Lead position at US Foods, Inc. offers a rewarding career opportunity for experienced diesel mechanics to take on a leadership role in maintaining the company's fleet of road equipment.

Compensation:

We offer an estimated salary of $42,000 per year, with a starting rate of $32 per hour and a retention bonus of $10,000. Additionally, we provide annual tool allowances, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance, effective from the first day of employment.

About the Role

As a Diesel Mechanic Lead, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining our fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with state and federal trucking regulations. Key duties include performing preventative maintenance, documenting repairs, handling road service calls, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose diesel equipment issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards
  • Complete documentation of repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability
  • Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety rules and regulations
  • Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping
  • Backup other maintenance shop personnel and assume increased responsibility

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of commercial diesel mechanic experience or equivalent
  • Refrigeration certification (TK) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
