Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team at Choice Hotels. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and functionality of our hotel, including common areas, meeting spaces, restaurant, bar, sauna, fitness center, pool area, and guestrooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to guest requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform duties of a groundskeeper, including maintaining the hotel's exterior and surrounding areas.
  • Complete work order requests in a timely manner, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Inspect public areas daily for any issues, focusing on condition and safety.
  • Be available on-call after hours and weekends to address any issues that may arise.
  • Provide maintenance repairs to guestrooms, public areas, and administrative offices, including plumbing, kitchen, mechanical, laundry, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, furnishings, and fixtures.
  • Maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program, ensuring that all records are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Properly secure all tools, equipment, and supplies after use.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Knowledge of PMS Rooms Management and related software, Internet Software, Spreadsheet Software (Excel), Word Processing Software (Word), Electronic Mail Software (Outlook), and Presentation software (PowerPoint).
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.

The noise level is usually moderate but may vary. Consistent uniformed attire is expected to be worn as required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, talking or hearing, and occasionally sitting, climbing, or balancing.

The ability to operate power tools and troubleshoot for solutions is essential. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
