Machine Maintenance Technician

Overview:
The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing essential support for all production and assembly machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this position, the technician must effectively carry out the following duties:

  • Develops and schedules preventative maintenance plans, machinery shutdowns, and repair activities in collaboration with management.
  • Monitors equipment downtime, mean time to repair (MTTR), mean time between failures (MTBF), and implements improvements in organization and housekeeping.
  • Generates daily and monthly performance reports.
  • Ensures accuracy in the inventory of materials and spare parts for items undergoing repair.
  • Executes time-based preventive maintenance tasks within the SAP system.
  • Documents outcomes and improvement strategies for maintenance operations.
  • Works alongside Engineering teams for the installation of new machinery.
  • Evaluates and supports the effective maintenance of equipment, providing weekly and monthly updates.
  • Reviews plans for weekends, shutdowns, preventive maintenance, and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensures the precision of equipment materials and spare parts.
  • Delivers comprehensive lists of equipment discrepancies along with corrective measures.
  • Facilitates and enhances repairs of equipment and parts.
  • Assists in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
  • Creates a comprehensive repair manual for future reference.
  • Identifies and coordinates training requirements within the department and formulates training programs.
  • Adheres to Personal Protective Equipment standards as per OSHA and company guidelines.
  • Promotes a safe working environment, participating in safety meetings and conducting them when necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience as a maintenance technician.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A Technical Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the automotive industry is essential.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in SAP is required.
  • Experience with automated production lines is preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of production robotics is a plus.
  • Understanding of conveyor systems is beneficial.
  • Experience with Lean work practices is desirable.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiar with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
  • Skilled in the use of both hand and power tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of schematics and electrical systems.
  • Knowledgeable in servo motors and controls.
  • Experienced in preventive maintenance practices.
  • Familiar with hydraulic presses.
  • Knowledge of centrifugal pumps.
  • Proficient in welding techniques including SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW.
  • Adheres to safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Certifications:
A background in Mechatronics is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • 80% of the time spent on the production floor, 20% in an office setting.
  • Requires extensive walking and standing on the production floor.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and weekends is necessary.
  • Team-oriented working environment.
  • Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
