Summary

This role involves delivering First Steps services, which encompass Maternity Support and Infant Case Management, as part of a collaborative team that includes Public Health Nurses, Registered Dietitians, Social Workers, and Community Health Workers. The Nutritionist will be tasked with conducting nutrition evaluations and providing education, breastfeeding assistance, and case management for individuals and groups, all within a client-centered Public Health Parent Child Health framework through both in-clinic and home-based services.

The First Steps initiative integrates Maternity Support Services and Infant Case Management, with a multidisciplinary team approach ensuring comprehensive service delivery. Each professional discipline contributes to the full spectrum of program services, alongside their specialized functions.

Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with potential adjustments based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct nutrition services and support to a diverse client base.
  • Facilitate group and individual nutrition education sessions, including breastfeeding support.
  • Collect and evaluate data to identify health and nutrition risk factors, eligibility for programs, and necessary referrals.
  • Conduct thorough nutrition assessments and develop tailored care plans.
  • Monitor and respond to the evolving needs of high-risk clients, particularly pregnant and breastfeeding individuals.
  • Collaborate with team members and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and document case management activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Assist in training new staff and contribute to outreach efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage client appointments using electronic health records.

Qualifications
  • Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential or eligibility for registration by the date of hire.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition.
  • Washington State Certified Dietitian certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience in providing direct nutrition services.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records.

Desired Skills
  • Experience with First Steps services.
  • Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish or other relevant languages.
  • Experience in group nutrition education and training facilitation.
