JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse is accountable for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of safe and effective patient-centered care across various settings, based on education, knowledge, skills, and competencies.

The Registered Nurse collaborates with physicians, managers, and colleagues regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology. Prioritization of care is determined based on physical and psychosocial needs, with the ability to respond swiftly and accurately to changes in conditions or treatment responses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
- Follows professional practice guidelines as defined by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Collaborates with other departments professionally to ensure patient-centered care.
- Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership skills.
- Complies with Sheridan Memorial Hospital's Kindness First Service Standards.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that maximizes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medical errors.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and reassessments as per policy and specific to age-related populations.
- Formulating and revising individualized care plans based on patient responses to treatment and evaluating their effectiveness daily.
- Assessing and managing pain using appropriate techniques, including non-pharmacological methods, while involving patients and families in pain management education.
- Coordinating and supervising patient care as necessary.
- Developing teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluating their effectiveness, including family involvement as appropriate.
- Ensuring documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Performing treatments and providing services within the scope of practice.
- Communicating clearly with all healthcare team members.
- Consulting with other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
- Delivering care appropriate to the patient's disease condition and age.
- Assisting physicians with procedures and performing tasks requiring technical and manual skills.

Furthermore, the Registered Nurse:
- Reports significant events such as near misses, adverse events, and patient/family complaints promptly.
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
- Acts as a liaison between patients/families, physicians, other healthcare providers, and administration.
- Maintains professional interactions with patients/families, involving them in care planning.
- Cultivates positive working relationships within the department and with other departments.
- Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families, communicating with social services/discharge planners regarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well under stress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience / License and Certifications
- Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure.
- BLS certification required.
- BSN preferred.
- Minimum of one year of acute care experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year acute care experience, preferably in: Cath/IR Lab/EP Lab, Interventional Radiology/Special Procedures, Radiology, surgical, intensive care, emergency care, or endoscopy.
- ACLS certification within 1 year of position start date required.
- RCIS, CVRN, or CHFN certification preferred.

Specific Demands:
Possible exposure to blood and/or body fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals, specimens, and latex products. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
