We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Installation Assistant to join our team at NRG Energy. As an HVAC Installation Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for our residential and commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation of HVAC equipment, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Work under the supervision of experienced technicians to ensure that all installations are completed to the highest standards.
  • Test systems to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues that may arise.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform start-up procedures on air conditioning systems as needed.
  • Fabricate and install various ducts and duct fittings as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; experience may be substituted for education.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn the HVAC trade.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work overtime with little notice and occasional weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC trade school certification.
  • Prior HVAC installation experience.
  • EPA certification.
Working Conditions
  • Work will primarily take place at residential homes or construction sites, with minimal time spent in an office environment.
  • Regularly exposed to construction environments involving equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions while wearing personal protective equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Regularly performs tasks requiring climbing, bending, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and stairways, and occasionally work on platforms/scaffolding.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, masks/respirators, reflective safety vests, gloves, and safety toe construction-grade work boots.
  • Ability to adhere to long periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
