Role Summary: Guided by the institution's mission, educators will guarantee that every student attains the essential knowledge and skills for academic advancement and success, as outlined by educational objectives and broader institutional goals. Educators are expected to embody the mission and core values of the institution, adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, and foster constructive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, families, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability to promote both academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a rigorous, evidence-based curriculum aimed at enhancing student academic growth and achievement, aligned with institutional initiatives.
- Design, prepare, and present lesson plans and instructional materials that encourage active learning and accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Establish clear and positive learning expectations for all students to assess academic progress.
- Utilize technology effectively to support and differentiate instruction.
- Monitor individual student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Conduct regular assessments to evaluate student performance and ensure academic success.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and development, updating necessary documentation as required.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and community partners, ensuring effective communication regarding academic progress and conduct.
- Engage in professional development and collaborative practices to enhance instructional techniques and assessment methods.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives aimed at improving student performance and experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Required); Master's Degree preferred.
- Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educators License (PEL or 9-12 Required).
- Experience in writing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Special Education laws and protocols is essential.
- Experience in urban high school settings is highly valued.
- Strong commitment to advocating for students with special needs and high expectations for their potential.
Skills and Competencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of contemporary teaching principles and classroom management techniques.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology for educational purposes.
