Sociology Instructor

GeorgiaGov is seeking a highly qualified Full-Time Instructor to join our team in the Arts & Sciences department. As a Full-Time Instructor, you will be responsible for providing instruction to students in General Education Sociology courses.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective teaching techniques to facilitate adult learning styles.
- Maintain accurate records and grade books, and ensure proper maintenance of student records.
- Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to engage with students and colleagues.
- Stay current with procedures in the Sociology field and apply this knowledge in the classroom.
- Follow approved course syllabi and ensure timely completion of reports and records.
- Provide academic advising and counseling to students, maintaining accurate records of student progress.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, adhering to institutional safety guidelines.
- Attend meetings and workshops as required, and observe and enforce institutional policies and regulations.
- Assist with student recruitment and job placement efforts.
- Participate in committees and other professional development opportunities as needed.
- Maintain qualifications for employment in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.
- Master's degree or higher in Sociology from an accredited college or university.
- Three or more years of work experience in the field of education within the past seven years.
- At least one year of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary education program within the past three years.
- Master's degree or higher in Sociology from an accredited college or university with 15-18 graduate hours in Psychology, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Development, or Human Resources.
- Five or more years of work experience in the field of education within the past seven years.
- Two or more years of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary education program within the past three years.
- Experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard, BANNER, or D2L.
