Fire Inspector Job Description

Willdan is a national leader in energy, engineering, and software consulting services. We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Inspector to join our team in the Marion County, FL area.

Job Summary:

The Fire Inspector will be responsible for conducting inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, and other buildings during and after construction. This includes ensuring compliance with fire prevention and life safety laws, codes, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with fire safety codes and regulations.
  • Interpret and enforce provisions of fire prevention and life safety laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports related to inspections and enforcement activities.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Fire Marshal to coordinate inspection assignments and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures related to fire safety and prevention.

Requirements:

  • Florida Fire Safety Inspector I and Fire Safety Inspector II certifications.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in annual inspections with a fire department in restaurants, factories, warehouses, and office environments.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • ICC Certification as Fire Inspector highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and local codes.
  • Municipal experience.
