Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Peer Specialist to join our team at Preferred Family Healthcare. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals on their recovery journey by providing support, guidance, and resources to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Harness the Power of Peer Support: Support and encourage individuals in their recovery journey, modeling recovery and resilience specific to each person's needs.
  • Promote Recovery and Resilience: Provide individual or group services with a rehabilitation and recovery focus, helping individuals manage psychiatric symptoms and enhance community living.
  • Cultivate Coping Skills: Help individuals develop coping skills and strategies to manage stress and adversity.
  • Foster Community and Connections: Encourage individuals to connect with others and their communities, promoting social support and a sense of belonging.
  • Empower Decision-Making: Assist individuals in making informed decisions about their treatment and recovery plans.
  • Uncover Strengths: Help individuals identify their personal strengths and resources to aid in their recovery.
  • Set Recovery Goals: Support individuals in setting and achieving their recovery goals.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
  • Self-identify as a current or former person of mental health or substance use services OR self-identify as a person in recovery from mental health or substance use disorder.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Complete a state-approved training program and, if required, pass a standardized examination.
Required License/Certification:
  • Drivers License.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Self-identify as a current or former person of mental health or substance use services OR self-identify as a person in recovery from mental health or substance use disorder.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
