Job Summary

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week, located in the Mental Health Service at the Togus location. The Nurse Practitioner Program Manager is responsible for the implementation and oversight of multiple teams, supervising staff members and managing administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain overall responsibility for teams and the delivery of outpatient general mental health services.
  • Report directly to the Deputy Chief of Mental Health Service.
  • Supervise staff members on their team.
  • Implement various initiatives that impact team programs.
  • Review daily consults conducted in teams.
  • Manage interpersonal dynamics as they arise.
  • Work with Ambulatory Care Business Operations (ACBO) Leadership to ensure consults are scheduled and encounters are closed.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Consult widely on empirically based treatments.
  • Conduct initial assessments, suicide assessments, evaluations, and updated care plans on a complete spectrum of mental health patients.
  • Provide empirically based individual and group psychotherapy to mental health patients.
  • Perform direct in-person or virtual face-to-face mental health triage, screening assessment, and treatment when indicated.
  • Communicate frequently with other Mental Health staff and to providers throughout the medical center as needed.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • English Language Proficiency.
  • Basic Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in a clinical specialty from a nationally recognized certifying body.
Education and Experience
  • Master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Physical Requirements

All applicants must be physically able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.
