Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to oversee the sanitation and housekeeping of our food contact areas and manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with required standards for cleanliness, quality, and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of integrity, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement among team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Direct and supervise sanitation employees to ensure effective and efficient sanitation practices.
  • Coordinate the master sanitation schedule and program for all processing and packaging equipment and storage vessels in accordance with company and FDA standards.
  • Meet established sanitation objectives and minimize overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime.
  • Work with HR to hire, train, and schedule production workforce.
  • Coordinate shift activities through planning and communication with employees to ensure all sanitation objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.
  • Ensure scheduling of the sanitation department.
  • Compile required sanitation reporting accurately and timely.
  • Maintain close working relationships with all departments and respond to deviations from standards immediately.
  • Monitor CIP equipment to ensure proper operation by shift personnel.
  • Monitor the usage and storage of all cleaning/sanitizing chemicals and agents to ensure compliance with safety requirements and prevent unauthorized access or usage.
  • Coordinate with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure a trouble-free shift start-up.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive employee, corporate, and community relations, as well as interface with customer service, vendors, and contractors.
  • Regular attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
  • Perform tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management.
  • Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records.
Engagement
  • Work respectfully with all team members to ensure the safety, quality, production, and support of our products and goals on a daily basis.
  • Practice integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement, and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors.
  • Actively participate in Marzetti Operational Excellence, special projects or tasks, and modification programs as needed with prior approval.
  • Actively participate in department/shift/team meetings and be involved with improvement/resolutions and follow-up.
Safety
  • Maintain the highest standard of safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Perform daily inspections of all PPE required, including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields, and aprons, to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety and protection while working in the facility.
  • Successfully acquire and maintain Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely perform all functions in accordance with OSHA and company requirements and standards.
  • Perform daily inspections of power equipment with proper documentation.
  • As a member of the T. Marzetti Company, complete Behavior-Based Safety Observations (BBSO), correct issues when identified, and participate in problem-solving.
Quality
  • As a member of the T. Marzetti Company, complete Behavior-Based Quality observations (BBQs), correct issues when identified, and participate in problem-solving.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, food safety/HACCP, FSMA, Food Defense, 5S, OSHA, and other support programs; assure conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.
  • Communicate any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality, and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of sanitation/chemical usage and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably in the food-related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence.
  • Positive leadership and self-motivation skills.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification and safely maintain per company and OSHA standards.
  • Strong organizational abilities, capable of multi-tasking.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing effective staffing, scheduling, budgets, CIP systems, equipment, and chemical processes with proven troubleshooting and resolution aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret written and verbal direction while working in a safe, effective, and productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
  • BS Degree in Food Science, Sanitation with Chemical standards or equivalent preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.
