Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead our technology strategy and drive innovation across the organization.

Job Summary:

The CIO will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and improving the company's enterprise technology strategy, with ownership of global application, infrastructure, and cyber security disciplines. This includes overseeing a $100 million IT budget, partnering with global business leadership to understand automation needs, and ensuring the delivery of a broad array of technology projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Foster the development of a cohesive, productive, and highly functioning IT organization, encompassing internal BHSI teammates and external resources.
  2. Partner with global business and functional leadership to align business objectives and technology investments, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
  3. Develop and oversee the annual IT budget, maintaining a deep understanding of all components, their drivers, and trends.
  4. Oversee the operation and ongoing evolution of our global network and computing platform, including computers, mobile devices, networks, applications, databases, and collaboration tools.
  5. Ensure that IT projects are managed with clear expectations, detailed plans, and transparency, developing and overseeing relationships with critical IT partners and vendors.
  6. Ensure compliance with requisite processes and IT discipline to protect the organization and its assets, focusing on audit expectations, data privacy, cyber security, and global regulatory expectations.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Commercial Insurance business, experience handling global business challenges, and a demonstrated aptitude for developing credibility with global business and functional leadership. They must possess effective communication and collaboration skills, working upwards, outwards, and downwards, and have experience providing technical and architectural oversight to a complex computing platform.

The CIO must be a hands-on executive who brings cultural awareness and a company-first approach to BHSI, with a record of successes as a change agent and clear experience in IT governance, planning, budgeting, and portfolio management.

BHSI Offers:

A competitive compensation and benefits package, exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates, a dynamic, action-oriented, and values-driven environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates, and other stakeholders.

A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team framework.
