Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist

About the Role:
Athens Services is seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnose issues with electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
- Perform safety inspections and checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Respond to roadside emergencies and perform repairs as directed by supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, including documentation of parts usage and repair times.
- Participate in safety and compliance training to ensure knowledge of best practices.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school certification or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or equivalent trade school and/or technical certifications.
- Familiarity with DOT and CHP repair processes and controls for Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Effective communication skills to convey mechanical issues and required repairs.
- Ability to work safely and in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Professional behavior and attitude.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
- Valid Class C Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
- Personal tools and ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- ASE Tire Certification.
- Welder Certification.
- Brakes Certification.
- CNG/LNG alternative fuel training.
- CDL Class A/B with air brake endorsement.
- Computer diagnostic skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Physical demands include standing, walking, seeing, hearing, and smelling continuously, as well as problem-solving, oral communication, analytical ability, concentration, exposure to heavy machinery, and eye/hand coordination.
- Environmental demands include exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet slippery surfaces, hot/cold conditions, and noise continuously.
